15 Yard vs 20 Yard Dumpster
The 20 yard adds a foot of wall height and about two more truck loads for $200 more. Here is how to decide.
The numbers
15 yard: 12 ft x 8 ft x 5 ft, about 6 truck loads, $495. 20 yard: 12 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft, about 8 truck loads, $695. Both are up to 7 days with up to 1 ton included.
Go with the 15 yard for
- A single-room renovation or one kitchen.
- Moving out of an average house.
- Flooring or roofing on a modest home.
Go with the 20 yard for
- Tearing down a garage, shed or deck.
- Renovating more than one room at once.
- Emptying a whole house for an estate or sale.
A note on weight
A bigger dumpster does not raise the 1 ton included weight. If your debris is dense, more space can just mean more overage. Demo debris with lots of framing lumber is usually fine in a 20; heavy materials may need a plan. Call us and describe the job.
