How to Choose the Right Dumpster Size
A simple way to pick between a 10, 15 and 20 yard dumpster: count truck loads, think about weight, and size up when you are unsure.
Start with pickup truck loads
Most people can picture a pickup truck bed piled level. Our 10 yard holds about 4 of those, the 15 yard about 6, and the 20 yard about 8. Walk through the space you are clearing and estimate how many truck trips it would take to haul it yourself.
Match the size to the job
These are starting points, not rules:
- 10 yard: one-car garage, a bathroom, a single room or a weekend declutter.
- 15 yard: kitchen or flooring jobs, moving out, a basement plus a garage.
- 20 yard: garage or shed demolition, multi-room renovation, estate cleanouts.
Think about weight, not just volume
Each standard rental includes up to 1 ton. Bulky stuff like furniture fills space fast but stays light. Dense debris like roofing shingles or plaster gets heavy before the dumpster looks full. For heavy jobs, a smaller dumpster filled carefully can be the smarter pick. Call us if you are not sure.
When in doubt, size up
The 15 yard costs the same as the 10 yard ($495). If you are torn between those two, take the 15. Running out of room halfway through means a second rental, which always costs more than picking the bigger box the first time.
