Moving & Downsizing Dumpster Rental

A moving dumpster gives you a separate destination for household items you no longer want to pack. This is a rental for you to load, not a moving service. Use it for a smaller apartment purge, a house move or downsizing after deciding what to keep and donate.

Estimate the unwanted items, not the whole move

Count only what you intend to discard. Your moving boxes and furniture that are coming with you should not be included in the dumpster estimate. A few rooms or an apartment cleanout can start with a 10 yard; downsizing from a full house often starts with a 15 yard.

Bulky furniture may fill the available space sooner than bags and boxes. Compare roughly four pickup loads in a 10 yard with roughly six in a 15 yard, and call if a larger house purge exceeds that estimate.

Separate disposal from packing

Label keep, donate and discard items before delivery. Keep important documents, keys and packed belongings away from the discard pile so helpers do not confuse them with unwanted material. Flatten discarded boxes to avoid using the container's volume on empty space.

Furniture and general household waste are generally accepted. Moving also uncovers old paint, chemicals and other prohibited materials; separate these rather than packing them into the cleanout load.

  • Sort the discard pile before estimating capacity.
  • Keep packed belongings separate from the loading route.
  • Confirm any unfamiliar disposal item before it goes in.

Plan backward from the moving date

Request delivery a few days before the move so you have time to clear unwanted items. Discuss placement so the dumpster does not obstruct the moving truck or shared access. Choose a pickup date that allows a final check after the last belongings leave.

If access ends at closing or a lease handover, explain that deadline when you call. Availability must be confirmed separately; submitting dates online is not a guarantee that delivery or pickup can meet a particular handover time.

Size, price and weight

Choose a starting size

All standard sizes have a 12 ft x 8 ft footprint. The truck needs additional access and room to set down; call if placement is uncertain.

What can go in?

Household junk, furniture and general household waste are generally accepted. Paints, insecticides, flammable liquids and hazardous materials stay out. Mattress-specific acceptance or charges require confirmation; do not assume all furnishings have the same requirements.

Keep everything at or below the top edge. A larger container does not change material restrictions or provide unlimited weight.

Review the full material policy and call before loading anything uncertain.

Keep these out

  • Hazardous materials
  • Paints
  • Insecticides
  • Flammable liquids
  • Asbestos
  • Tires
  • Dirt / soil
  • Concrete
  • Bricks

Check with your municipality about disposal options for prohibited items. Specific local rules and unconfirmed item fees are not assumed.

From request to pickup

  1. 1. Describe the project

Estimate your discard volume and identify the materials. Select a size and preferred delivery and pickup dates; include placement notes.

  2. 2. Confirm by phone

Call (339) 201-1515 to confirm availability, access and details. An online request is pending, not confirmed or paid. Payment is arranged separately after confirmation.

  3. 3. Prepare and load

Clear the agreed spot and truck approach, including overhead obstacles. Load only accepted material and keep it level with or below the top edge.

  4. 4. Prepare for pickup

Keep access clear on the confirmed pickup date. If your plans change, call before pickup to discuss timing or arrange additional days.
