Garage Cleanout Dumpster Rental

A garage cleanout is not a garage teardown. This rental is for clearing stored household junk, worn furniture, boxes and unwanted wood so you can use the space again. Start with what is being discarded, then choose between our lower-wall 10 yard and roomier 15 yard.

One garage or a combined cleanout?

The 10 yard is a starting point for a one-car garage and holds roughly four pickup truck loads. A packed two-car garage, or a garage plus basement, may need the 15 yard's roughly six pickup truck loads. Those are estimates: bulky shelves and furniture can change the amount quickly.

Both containers occupy 12 ft x 8 ft. The 10 yard has 3.5 ft walls; the 15 yard has 5 ft walls. Choose capacity and loading height deliberately rather than assuming the larger size needs more driveway.

Separate the problem materials first

Garages often mix ordinary household junk with old paint, insecticides, flammable liquids and tires. These prohibited materials do not become acceptable because they are packed with boxes or wood. Set them aside before the first load.

Check your town's disposal options for material that cannot go in the dumpster. If you cannot identify a container's contents, call before loading it rather than treating it as general household waste.

  • Create separate keep, donate and discard areas.
  • Set prohibited items away from the loading pile.
  • Flatten boxes and break down suitable bulky items without blocking access.

Keep the driveway usable

Pick a placement that leaves a clear carrying route from the garage. Move cars, trailers and bins out of the truck's path and check for low wires or branches. The dumpster footprint alone is not a complete truck-clearance measurement; call if the approach is tight.

Describe the garage cleanout in your booking notes and choose delivery and pickup dates. A request is not a confirmed delivery, so confirm by phone before committing helpers to the work.

Size, price and weight

Choose a starting size

All standard sizes have a 12 ft x 8 ft footprint. The truck needs additional access and room to set down; call if placement is uncertain.

What can go in?

Household junk, furniture and wood are generally accepted. Paints, insecticides, flammable liquids and tires are not. Soil, concrete and bricks must also stay out, including old material stored around the garage.

Keep everything at or below the top edge. A larger container does not change material restrictions or provide unlimited weight.

Review the full material policy and call before loading anything uncertain.

Keep these out

  • Hazardous materials
  • Paints
  • Insecticides
  • Flammable liquids
  • Asbestos
  • Tires
  • Dirt / soil
  • Concrete
  • Bricks

Check with your municipality about disposal options for prohibited items. Specific local rules and unconfirmed item fees are not assumed.
